    In October 1941, on a personal application, she was enrolled in the 588th night lightly bomber aviation regiment, formed on the initiative of the famous pilot of the Hero of the Soviet Union M. M. Raskova.
    N. Meklin was the communications chief of the squadron, pilot, senior pilot and aviation regiment link commander. She fought on the South, North Caucasus, 4th Ukrainian and 2nd Belorussian fronts.
