Description
WW2 World War TwoANTONINA LEBEDEVA
(1916 - 1943)
She entered the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University. In 1936, when Antonina was in her second year, she decided to study at the Moscow flying club.
When the war began, twenty-five-year-old Tonya Lebedeva was already an experienced pilot, one of the first to come to the 586th women's fighter regiment of Marina Raskova. Later, as the best pilot, she was transferred to the 65th Guards Fighter Regiment. On July 17, 1943, the guard junior lieutenant Antonina Lebedeva did not return from the combat mission, and for 39 years she was considered missing. Only in 1982, according to the wreckage of the aircraft, personal weapons, and miraculously preserved documents, it was found that during the days of the Oryol-Kursk operation over the village of Betovo, the Yak-9 fighter, Antonina Lebedeva's plane, crashed.
