    Lydia (Lilia) Litvyak
    (August 18, 1921 - August 1, 1943),
    Soviet fighter pilot
    , aviation commander, guard junior lieutenant, the most productive female pilot of World War II,
    Hero of the Soviet Union
    (1990). She died at the age of less than 22 years in a battle over the Mius Front. She was posthumously twice promoted to lieutenant in 1943 and to senior lieutenant in 1990.
    Lydia flew on the Yak-1 fighter. She took part in the battle of Stalingrad. Fought in the male 437th air regiment along with everyone. Litvyak received the nickname "White Lily of Stalingrad".
    She was wounded three times.
    In late July - early August 1943 there were heavy fighting to break through the German defense at the turn of the Mius River, which closed the road to the Donbass. On August 1, 1943, Lidia Litvyak made 4 sorties, during which she personally shot down two enemy aircraft and one in the group. From the fourth departure, she did not return.
    The grave of Lydia Litvyak was found only in the summer of 1979 in the village of Dmitrovka in the Shakhtyorsk district of Donetsk region (buried in a mass grave). By presidential decree of May 5, 1990, the Guard, Lieutenant Litvyak Lidia Vladimirovna posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

    Strike witches
    " Sani Litvyak.
