    Description

Offered by Shawn A. Yancey of Earlycoppercoins, EAC#4647.
1793 C1 Liberty Cap half cent, Smooth Bust Line, R3+.  This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as F15, and in opinion, this is a coin that is undergraded because PCGS was confused by the middle die state, in which HALF CENT is obliterated on the reverse.  This coin was formerly in the collection of Mike Demling, and his envelope notes that he considered this coin to be VF25.  Mike purchased the coin on 11/07/92 from Ed Hipps at the Baltimore show - just 30 short years ago!  The coin itself is a glossy dark chocolate brown with bold details on both sides (except for HALF CENT as previously mentioned), and very nice eye appeal.  This is a middle-die-state (MDS M2.0) example with HALF CENT nearly gone but before the reverse rim break above F-AME.  A VERY nice coin for the grade, which I believe would be at least EAC F15+.  The Cohen-1 attribution is listed on the PCGS label.  Also comes with a CVM insert at ,500.  A coin I really wish I could KEEP but that's not in the cards for me right now - is it for YOU!?
