- It does not break down easily, and does not decolorize easily.

- Red lava is an ideal amendment for Bonsai soil.

- Improves soil drainage, it lets air go through freely, oxygen is essential for roots development.
- Can also be used for top dressing, it's wet-dry color helps set water schedules.
